PETER LOMBARD, MD

“Dr. Peter Lombard was born and raised in Guam, and is the son of Dr. Gabriel and Kathleen Lombard, of Pago Bay.  He is a 3rd generation physician.  His father Dr. Gabe Lombard cared for Guam families as a family physician for over 40 years, working initially at FHP then at The Doctors Clinic.  

Dr. Lombard attended St. Johns School in elementary school.  He graduated valedictorian from the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1998, and attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore Maryland in 2002. He proudly took care of US Marines as the flight surgeon for the “Lucky Red Lions” helicopter squadron based out of Kaneohe Hawaii, and deployed with his squadron to Iraq in 2007 during Operation Enduring Freedom.  

He completed training in ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2010 and returned to Guam as the Department Head of Ophthalmology at Naval Hospital Guam, where he also was elected by his peers to be the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.  After fulfilling his military commitment, he elected to stay in Guam as a civilian, opening the Lombard Health eye clinic in Sinajana in 2015.  A satellite clinic was opened in 2021 in Upper Tumon, and the clinic re-branded as “Eye Care Guam” in 2023.

Dr. Lombard specializes in complex cataract surgery, premium intraocular lens implant surgery, glaucoma, pediatric, strabismus, and oculoplastic eye surgery, and as a comprehensive ophthalmologist he manages a wide variety of disorders and diseases of the eye including diabetic retinopathy which has a high prevalence in the local population. He has performed over 10,000 cataract procedures and participates in international ophthalmology forums and conferences. He also travels with his clinic team to Saipan to assist with eye care.

Matthew Klocek, MD

Dr. Matthew Klocek is a distinguished ophthalmologist who joined Eye Care Guam (Lombard Health) in 2020, and prior to this, worked in private practice in Newport News, VA. He embarked on his medical journey at Mercyhurst College, where he graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Sportsmedicine. His passion for medicine led him to Penn State College of Medicine, where he earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Anatomy, a Master of Science in Anatomy, and later, a Doctor of Medicine.

Dr. Klocek’s postgraduate training was extensive, completing a Transitional Year at UPMC Mercy, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Eye and Ear Institute.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, Dr. Klocek has been recognized for his outstanding achievements, notably receiving two awards from Penn State College of Medicine.

His dedication to the field is evident in his teaching experiences, having served as a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer multiple times for the Structural Basis of Medical Practice course. Furthermore, he has contributed significantly to ophthalmological research, with numerous research papers, abstracts, and poster presentations to his name.

Julian C Archer, OD

Dr. Julian C. Archer is a licensed optometrist with a rich history of serving diverse communities. Currently practicing at Eye Care Guam (formerly Lombard Health) in Sinajana, GU since April 2017, he brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles across the United States. He is one of only six US Board Accredited licensed optometrists in Guam. 

Dr. Archer began his optometric journey in Denver, CO. His commitment to patient care and professional development is evident from his clinical rotations in various private practices and hospital clinics, spanning from Atlanta, GA to San Juan, PR. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Inter American University School of Optometry in San Juan, PR in 2007. Prior to this, Dr. Archer obtained a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an AS in Natural Science from Cleveland State CC in Cleveland, TN. 

He actively contributes to the optometric community, holding the position of Treasurer for the Guam Board of Examiners for Optometry (GBEO) and maintaining memberships with esteemed organizations such as the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians (TAOP). Outside of his clinical duties, Dr. Archer is passionate about fostering connections and collaborations within the optometric community, as evidenced by his previous role as a liaison and surgical management coordinator, and an active member and officer in GBOE.
